"Tilak's Mature and Smart Innings Made the Difference: Brydon Carse Reacts After India's Win in 2nd T20I"

Middle-order batter Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 72 was the key difference in India’s victory over England in the second T20I, according to England's pace bowling all-rounder Brydon Carse.

Tilak's half-century guided India to chase down 166 in a tense finish at Chepauk, giving India a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Carse praised Tilak's "mature, smart" innings in his post-match comments: "We got a decent score on the board and kept taking wickets throughout the game, but credit goes to Tilak. I think he played a very mature, smart innings, and ultimately he was the difference."

Carse, who contributed with both bat and ball—scoring 31 off 17 balls and taking three wickets—defended Jofra Archer despite his tough outing, where he conceded 60 runs in four overs. Archer was hit for four sixes by Tilak.

“A couple of nights ago, Jofra had an amazing spell up front. I still think he bowled pretty well tonight, but he was pretty unfortunate," said Carse. "A lot of runs came over the keeper’s head behind square. Sometimes that happens when you bowl 90 mph."

Carse also discussed England's aggressive approach with both bat and ball, despite it not yielding success in the series so far. "We’re always going to try and take the game on in the power play, whether that’s with bat or ball. But there’s always room to improve."

He found positives in the tight finish: “It’s obviously a defeat, but these close finishes will help us going forward for the season and the Champions Trophy. We haven’t put in a full performance yet, but I’m excited to see where we can get over the next couple of games."

Indian private space-tech company Pixxel launched India’s first private satellite constellation

Indian private space-tech company Pixxel has launched India’s first private satellite constellation, "Firefly." The first three satellites of the Firefly constellation were successfully deployed aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Firefly is Pixxel's flagship hyperspectral imaging (HSI) satellite constellation, consisting of six of the highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral satellites to date.

About Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) Satellites: HSI satellites capture a broad spectrum of light, rather than simply assigning primary colors (red, green, blue) to each pixel. This allows for a more detailed spectral “fingerprint” of the Earth. HSI satellites provide deeper insights into the imaged area. For example, while a standard satellite might identify a forest, an HSI satellite can distinguish between different tree species and assess the health of each individual tree.

About Satellite Constellations: A satellite constellation is a network of identical satellites that share a common purpose and control, working together as a system. These satellites communicate with global ground stations and, in some cases, interconnect to enhance each other’s functionality. Starlink, with 2,146 active satellites, is the largest satellite constellation in operation.

Types of Satellite Orbits:

  • Geostationary Orbit (GEO): Positioned at an altitude of 36,000 km, these satellites synchronize with Earth's rotation.
  • Medium Earth Orbit (MEO): Located between 5,000 to 20,000 km, MEO satellites are typically used for navigation.
  • Low Earth Orbit (LEO): Operating at altitudes between 500 to 1,200 km, LEO satellites are primarily used for research, telecommunications, and Earth observation.

Hollywood Mourns David Lynch: A Tremendous Loss of a Distinctive and One-of-a-Kind Voice

The death of filmmaker David Lynch, confirmed by his family on Thursday at the age of 78, has sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Esteemed figures like Steven Spielberg, Nicolas Cage, and Hugh Jackman have paid heartfelt tributes, calling his passing a "massive loss" to the film industry.

Steven Spielberg shared a touching tribute, highlighting Lynch's remarkable body of work: "I loved David’s films. ‘Blue Velvet,’ ‘Mulholland Drive,’ and ‘Elephant Man’ established him as a unique, visionary dreamer who crafted films with a deeply personal touch. I had the privilege of working with David when he portrayed John Ford in ‘The Fabelmans.’ It was surreal to see one of my heroes, David Lynch, playing another of my heroes. It felt like a scene from one of David’s own films. The world will miss such an original and exceptional voice. His films have already withstood the test of time, and they will continue to do so."

"Man in Pakistan Sings to Sell Pudding While Resembling Donald Trump"

In a busy market in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, a food vendor who locals say closely resembles U.S. President-elect Donald Trump attracts more attention and business than other sellers.

"We feel like Trump himself is here selling kheer (pudding)," said Mohammad Yaseen, a local resident who prefers to buy the dessert from Saleem Bagga, the look-alike vendor who also sings to attract customers.

"When he sings to sell kheer, we go to him," Yaseen added.

Bagga, 53, pushes his colorful wooden cart down the road, serving the creamy pudding, while wearing a black jacket over his beige shalwar kameez to stay warm in the winter.

A crowd gathers as Bagga, who has a distinct blonde quiff due to his albinism, sings the lyrics of a Punjabi song: "Now come to me, my love, don't wait any longer, my eyes are tired of waiting."

To protect your India Post payment (or any financial account) from scammers, it's important to follow a series of precautions to ensure your information and transactions remain secure. Here are some tips to help you protect your India Post payment and other related services:

Why is the Union govt fact check team cautioning India Post Payments Bank users about a phishing scam?

What is Phishing Scam?

Phishing is a type of online scam that targets consumers by sending them an e-mail that appears to be from a well-known source – an internet service provider, a bank, or a mortgage company, for example. It asks the consumer to provide personal identifying information.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check team has exposed a phishing scam targeting customers of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).

Fraudsters have been sending alarming messages, falsely claiming that accounts will be blocked unless PAN card details are updated. These messages contain a suspicious link, leading users directly to scammers.

The PIB Fact Check team has confirmed that India Post has not sent out any such messages, urging the public to remain cautious and not engage with the fraudulent claims. Authorities have warned citizens to be vigilant, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and refrain from sharing personal details.

the brutalist movie review

If you're referring to the movie "Brutalist", it's possible you're asking about the 2023 film titled Brutalist. However, it’s worth noting that there might be confusion with other media or topics. Let me clarify:

  1. "Brutalist" (2023) is an independent film directed by Michael M. Bilandic, which deals with themes of architecture, identity, and emotional isolation through the lens of a young woman grappling with life in a brutalist apartment complex. It is set within the minimalist, austere confines of Brutalist architecture, making the setting a significant part of the film's atmosphere.

Plot Overview

The movie centers on a woman named Lila, a young architect, who has returned to her childhood home in a brutalist-style apartment complex, which she once viewed as oppressive but now has to reconcile with. The building itself represents both the physical and emotional walls she’s built around herself. As she struggles with her personal life, relationships, and the architectural legacy of her home, she must confront her past and the symbolic weight of the space in which she’s living.

Themes and Analysis

  • Architectural Influence on Identity: The film uses Brutalism as a metaphor for the characters' emotional and psychological states. The harsh, raw concrete structures mirror the characters' feelings of alienation and detachment. The architecture is both a source of oppression and a complex symbol of strength and permanence.

Why HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Recently trending ?

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a group of more than 200 related viruses that can infect the skin and mucous membranes, such as those in the genital area, throat, and mouth. It's one of the most common viral infections worldwide, with certain types being sexually transmitted. HPV infections can cause a variety of health problems, including warts and, in some cases, cancer.

Types of HPV

HPV can be divided into low-risk and high-risk types:

  1. Low-risk HPV types (such as HPV 6 and HPV 11):

    • These types are usually associated with non-cancerous conditions like genital warts and warts on the hands and feet.
    • They can also cause respiratory papillomatosis, which leads to warts in the airways.
  2. High-risk HPV types (such as HPV 16 and HPV 18):

    • These types are linked to various types of cancers, including:
      • Cervical cancer (most common, especially types 16 and 18)
      • Anal cancer
      • Throat cancer (or oropharyngeal cancer)
      • Penile and vulvar cancers

Transmission

HPV is typically transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. The most common mode of transmission is sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. In some cases, HPV can also be passed from mother to child during childbirth.

Symptoms and Health Risks

  • Genital warts: Small growths or lumps that appear on the genital, anal, or mouth areas.
  • Cervical dysplasia: Changes to the cells on the cervix that can lead to cervical cancer if untreated.
  • Cancer: Persistent infection with high-risk HPV can cause changes in cells, leading to cancer, particularly of the cervix, anus, throat, or penis.

Prevention

  1. HPV Vaccination: Vaccines like Gardasil and Cervarix protect against the most common high-risk HPV types that cause cancer and the types that cause genital warts. It's recommended for both boys and girls around the age of 11 or 12 (but can be administered up to age 26, or older in some cases).

  2. Condom Use: While condoms do not provide complete protection, they can reduce the risk of transmission of HPV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

  3. Regular Screenings:
