What is the meaning of the word "Dravid"?
The word “Dravid” in Sanskrit simply means “the land with water on three sides” – a peninsula and thus Dravidians would be peninsular Indians, nothing more. All people in Indian subcontinent is Dravidian. All people in Indian subcontinent is Aryan because they follow “Arya Dharmma” that is noble Dharma aka Sanatan Dharmma (Hinduism).
What is the concept behind Dravida Nadu?
Thousands years back when the Aryans entered the mainland of India and mainly Plains of India that time native Indians Dravid migratory to the Peninsular India. Dravida Nadu is mainly Andhra Pradesh Telangana Tamil Nadu Kerala and Karnataka. Most of the population in this area is belongs to Dravid. Today if we speak proper pure and perfect language irrespective of which language it may be i:e Tamil, Hindi, Bangla, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati etc we are considered as insane and boring personality. Culture of mixing English word is considered as compatible and prestigious etiquettes.
Word Dravida is accumulation of four states. Karnataka, Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala with different languages spoken Tamil, kannada, Telugu, Tulu, Malayalam. When i see my friend children they get bored when Language periods in schools are undertaken. They complain inadequate proficiency in Teaching staff is always their concern. Attracting children Interest in language by interesting ways, simpler and better communication is absent.
If Tamil is going to be taught in such half baked way surely next generation will speak on savings Tamil but their proficiency in mastering language will go absent.
In University of Tamil Nadu how many students opt for language Tamil? Most of them will be seen inclined to various subject where generating revenue matters
Government of Tamil Nadu fails to encourage Tamil language by conducting various debate shows, art and cultural theatre displays, even promoting language needs organising cultural events across India and International level. No politicians is interested to promote Tamil language.

What does Dravidam mean?
Dravidam is said to be evolved from Thiru+idam=Thiruvidam-Dravidam, to mention Tamil land which have many temples. Dravidam is explained in many other ways also. What's sure is, it is not a concrete term to denote any group of people or language. Its a loose term used by various people variously.
