DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WESTERN GHATS AND EASTERN GHATS

WESTERN GHATS
 - More continuous
- Higher in elevation
- Sahayadris, anamalai, nilgiri and cardamom hills
 - Form excellent escarpments
- Rich watersheds give birth to large peninsular rivers like Godavari and Krishna.
- Separated from coast by narrow coastal plains.

 EASTERN GHATS
- Discontinuous
- Lower in elevation
 - Do not develop steep escarpments, lack well developed peaks.
 - Do not give birth to important rivers like western ghats.
- Separated from coast by very wide coastal plains.
 - Geologically older than western ghats.
