Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2011

Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2011 will take place on April 10. Established through an Act of Parliament, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) play a leading role in technological manpower development and research programs. These institutes are located in Bhubaneswar, Bombay (Mumbai), Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras (Chennai), Mandi, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan and Roorkee.

All Indian and Foreign nationals in order to secure admissions to the Undergraduate Programs at these institutions need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). These exams can also be taken to get admission in IT-BHU, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines(ISM), Dhanbad.

IIT-JEE 2011 Format:

The exam will comprise two papers with questions on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each paper will be of two hours duration. All questions will be objective type and there will be negative marks for incorrect answers.

Candidates are called for counseling. But, those who want to join the B.Arch. and B.Des. Courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at each counseling institute. Candidates who fail to qualify in the Aptitude Test will not be eligible for admission to either B.Arch. or B.Des Courses. Question papers for aptitude test for B.Arch and B.Des will be in English only.

Further, students are required to cover a wide range of topics under Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for this exam. These are:

Physics: General physics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity and magnetism, Optics, Modern physics.

Chemistry: General Topics, Gaseous and Liquid States, Atomic Structure and Chemical Bonding, Energetics, Chemical equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics, Solid state, Solutions, Surface chemistry, Nuclear chemistry, Isolation/preparation and properties of the non-metals and others.

Mathematics: Algebra, Trigonometry, Two dimensions geometry, Differential Calculus, Three dimensions geometry, Integral Calculus, Vectors.
Eligibility for IIT-JEE 2011

Candidates appearing in (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination must secure at least 60% (55% for SC/ST and PD) marks in aggregate in their respective Board Examination.

A student can have only two attempts to write JEE. Candidates who join any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi, and Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad through IIT JEE - 2011 will not be permitted to appear in JEE in future.

IIT-JEE 2011 Application Procedure

One can download an online application form from the official websites of IIT.

In case of off line applications, you need to visit the designated branches of banks. They will give you application form along with information brochure at Rs 1000. SC/ST and Female candidates can get these materials at Rs. 500.

November 12, 2010 to December 15, 2010.

Submission of on-line applications: 1st November to December 15th 2010

Last date of receipt of completed JEE Application Form at the JEE Office: Monday, 20th December, 2010

Date of Entrance test: April 10, 2011

Declaration of Results: May 25, 2011
